We had a very relaxing week last week, and it was wonderful! We took several days to come down from the CSW excitement, but we should be back into a comfortable routine this week.
We will be celebrating Valentine's Day TOMORROW! Because it falls on Ash Wednesday, we're celebrating a day early. I sent out a list of names last week. If you need another copy, let me know. I have boxes for the kids to decorate (thanks to Dominos!) so you do not need to send a Valentine's box for them. Tomorrow and Wednesday will NOT be out of uniform days.
NWEA tests took place before Catholic School's Week. This was the kiddos first time taking the test, so please don't stress out about their scores. Mrs. Doyle will be sending them home shortly with a note about interpreting the scores. Because the kinders have never taken the tests before, these are used mostly as a base-line for their future testing. Although they are helpful for me to look at, I do not use the data as intensively as some of the other teachers in higher grades might. We will discuss the reports at conferences in mid-March!
Next week in gym (on Thursday) the kindergarten class will begin ROLLER SKATING! How exciting! They will need to begin bringing (or wearing) shin-high socks to school for this unit. If girls wear tights, they will be fine. The purpose of this is to keep their skates from rubbing uncomfortably against their shins. Mr. T made it clear that, if they weren't going to be good listeners, they wouldn't get to skate. A handful of kids have had some trouble listening in gym, so the kids and I talked about it today; I made it clear that there can't be any more issues if they want to participate.
Thanks for checking in! Let me know if you have any questions.
